Scissor Man

ScissorMan

My mind runs wild daily. It’s a certainty that’s been with me as long as I can remember. I wake up and I see things as I walk my dog. I see things as I make my breakfast and when I drive to work. Even as I write this my eyes are scanning my desk and noticing shapes, colors, textures. I am imagining a different world in which objects can become whatever I want them to become. It’s my own visual playground.

Sometimes when inspiration strikes at just the right frequency and at just the right time, things become beautifully aligned. These are the moments when I have an opportunity to bring forth images from my mind.

In this case, it was past midnight and I was getting ready for bed; however for some reason my mind was running in circles. I knew falling asleep might prove to be tricky. Then I saw them. I saw the little scissors sitting on the counter. Only I didn’t really see scissors this time. I saw two big eyes and a “beaky” nose. I had to act.

I grabbed my nearest sketchbook and sharpie, doodled a bit, and the end result was captured with my iPhone. I really don’t know why this popped into my head, but I’m glad it did.
